Laurie Karr


Founder and Head Age Group Coach

Owner and Head Coach, Coach Karr has 30 years of coaching experience. She is the founder of Buckeye Swim Club and has lead the team to a 3rd place finish at the Ohio Age Group Championships and a 2nd place finish at the Ohio Senior Meet. She brings a passion for the sport of swimming and swimmers that is unparalleled by any in Central Ohio. She brings a tremendous knowledge of swimming and ability to communicate with swimmers and parents.

Coach Laurie earned her B.S. in Mathematical Sciences at Ohio State where she swam the distance and IM events. Growing up in Columbus, Laurie swam for 14 years in summer league, college, AAU, USS and at Worthington High School where she was team captain. Her coaching career began in 1986 at local summer league and USS teams. In 1990, with a mere dozen swimmers, Laurie started Metro Five Swim Team. Laurie and her husband Rick are enjoying their time with their daughter Makenzie and son Jeremy and look forward to many years of continued success at Buckeye. Lewis Timberman


 Head Senior Coach

Coach Timberman has been coaching for 30 years. He is an American Swim Coach Association Master Level 4 coach. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in both Literature and Education. In addition to coaching, he brings nine years of luxury retail experience from Mont Blanc and Porsche. He is accustomed to working with affluent clientele who expect prompt, courteous, and efficient customer service. He has an awareness of expectation of excellence in all aspects of services. Additionally, he has experience in developing relationships long-term clients by cultivating both a sense of “need” and loyalty. He will foster pride in being members of an elite and unique group of members and patrons. Coach Timberman’s coaching accomplishments include the following:

Jenn Secrest


 Hi, my name is Jenn Secrest and I am the parent of 2 Buckeye swimmers. I grew up swimming for the Delaware DARTS, lifeguarding, and teaching swim lessons. I worked for Columbus City Schools for 16 years as a special needs preschool teacher and starting next year will be working with Westerville City Schools at Hanby Elementary. I am very excited to be coaching for Buckeye this upcoming season and can't wait to watch all swimmers work towards their goals. Go Buckeyes!!
